ASHTANGA YOGA/PRANAYAMA/BUDDHA DHARMA
A ONE WEEK RETREAT WITH KIA NADDERMIER AT YOGA ROCKS, CRETE
SEPTEMBER 5-12TH 2026
The history of the Yoga Rocks space, before our occupancy, means many dedicated ashtangis across Europe and worldwide have honed their craft in Agios Pavlos. One of those is widely renowned teacher Kia Naddermier who offered a retreat at Yoga Rocks for the first time last year, and we are thrilled that she is coming back! Weaving an embodied approach to ashtanga yoga with pranayama and Buddhist mindfulness practices, Kia creates a rich retreat with ample opportunity to explore all sides of your practice.
This is an ashtanga vinyasa retreat but also so much more. Each extended morning practice starts with a detailed somatic preparation for the ashtanga practice, gradually moving towards a led class. Kia invites you on a thought provoking expedition through the ashtanga sequence and by day three the classes eventually morph into self-practice. These magical yoga mornings rise from delicious quiet subtle movements to an invigorating and challenging practice. A personal and unique visceral journey each day.
Afternoons are dedicated to the philosophy and practice of traditional pranayama in the lineage of Kaivalyadham and quiet Buddhist meditations. Kia unpacks her knowledge of these subtle techniques allowing for deeper understanding leading to tangible leaps during sitting. These mindfully crafted afternoon sessions allow each practitioner to develop transformative skills and personal resources, growing their unique practice from a place of deep authenticity and clear understanding.
Kia will be assisted in all classes by Laura Gonzalez
