Your Heart Was made for This

Kia & Maura, Mairena July 2020

Dear Friends,

With my bags open on my bed as I pack for India and my Year-end Retreat at Purple Valley, I’m feeling both tender and deeply grateful. It’s a gift to close the year in the motherland of yoga, held by my beloved sangha.

The turning of the year is such a powerful time in our practice. It’s a point of culmination where we have the opportunity to begin fresh, witnessing anew what it means to be alive in these times. It’s a possibility to tap into energy of shared intention and renewal as we look back and reflect on the year that has passed.

A year that has held many wonders but also deep loss for me personally, our community and for the world at large.

In the mysterious midst of both awe and heart ache, I’m reminded of the wise words by Andrew Harvey…

A year that has held many wonders but also deep loss for me personally, our community and for the world at large.

In the mysterious midst of both awe and heart ache, I’m reminded of the wise words by Andrew Harvey…

If you're really listening,

if you're awake to the poignant beauty of the world,

your heart breaks regularly.

In fact, your heart is made to break;

its purpose is to burst open again and again

so that it can hold evermore wonders.

As we move towards the end of one cycle to enter a new one, remind yourself that your heart was made for this.

With love and blessings.
