MEDITATION & PRANAYAMA

– Establishing & Developing Your Practice

An In-depth Online Training with KIA NADDERMIER

Five bi-weekly sessions between February 10th and April 7th 2021

This new Online Training offers insights into the art and practice of Meditation and Pranayama. It is open for all practitioners, new and experienced, looking to establish, grow and mature a personal practice under the personal guidance of Kia Naddermier and with the support of Sangha, community.

MEDITATION

The course will draw heavily from Buddhist teachings on Mindfulness and Insight Meditation. We develop a daily sitting practice, introducing and exploring traditional anchors and meditation techniques. We also look at how our mindfulness practice translates into our daily lives, transforming emotions, feelings and thoughts on a moment to moment basis.

PRANAYAMA

Kia will carefully introduce and guide us through traditional Pranayamas & Kriyas, deeply anchored in the classical texts (Patanjali, Hatha Pradipika and Gerhanda Samahita…). We will explore how these ancient yogic breathing- and purification techniques translates into modern scientific understanding of the breath and its effect on our nervous-system and wellbeing at large. These subtle, yet transformative practices are approached with intelligence and mindfulness, allowing each practitioner to grow according to their own capacity and intention. This is a unique opportunity to access these traditional teachings and techniques authentically and within direct lineage of Kaivalyadham.

Those newer to Pranayama and Meditation will receive the guidance, support and skills needed to establish a daily self practice. Experienced practitioners will refine and deepen their personal practice and understanding. – While being held in an inclusive and non-dogmatic space where we recognise that everyone, regardless of previous experience brings with them a wealth of wisdom to share.

Since the first week I’ve seen the effects of integrating all Kia’s teachings – not only in my practice, but also in my daily life, every second!

COURSE FORMAT

Every other Wednesday evening (depending on your time-zone!), we come together for live online session on zoom where Kia will share traditional practice techniques, as well as insights and reflections drawing from classical yogic- and Buddhist teachings. A particular effort is made to place this ancient wisdom in the context of the time and world we live in, our daily lives and relationships. Each session also offers space to ask Kia questions or share with the group.

The course is progressive in its approach; the bi-weekly format allows you to establish each segment in your personal practice before moving on to the next. In between classes you are offered recorded meditations and pranayama practice sheets to help anchor the teachings gone through in your personal practice.

An online Sangha forum will also be set up structured around each topic, offering the possibility to share experiences.

Please note that although the course is designed to foster self practice and reflective exploration, it is not a recorded self-study course. Your participation in the bi-weekly zoom-sessions is essential. You will work closely with Kia and your sangha to grow your practice and community. How ever, if you do end up missing a class, you will still have access to the pranayama practice sheets and recorded meditations to catch up.
